Just before 8 a.m., emergency dispatchers received a call concerning a single-vehicle rollover crash involving a silver pickup truck, Hurricane City Police Officer Doug Thornton told St. George News.

Responders arrived to find the truck in a ravine off the roadway overturned and on its side, while the driver was waiting nearby.

Additional officers were dispatched to the scene to assist with traffic while the pickup truck was pulled from the ditch and towed from the roadway.

Battalion Chief Tyler Ames with Hurricane Valley Fire District told St. George News the driver was able to climb out of the truck on her own and she declined to be transported to the hospital when emergency medical personnel arrived on scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash that resulted in the driver being arrested for suspect DUI by metabolites and she was booked into jail shortly after the crash. Testing will be conducted by the crime lab, which Thornton said will likely take some time before they get the results.

Thornton added that the investigation is ongoing so no further details were available at the time of this report.

The Hurricane City Police Department and Hurricane Valley Fire District responded and tended to the scene.

This report is based on statements from court documents and law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
