According to a news release from Iron County Sheriff’s Lt. David Mitchell, dispatchers in Cedar City received a 911 call at 3:19 p.m. reporting a fire in a barn located at approximately 3700 West and 200 South in Parowan Valley.

According to the news release, the fire originated in a single-level barn before spreading to the surrounding yard and threatening a nearby residence.

The blaze also ended up consuming a camper parked near the metal barn, as well as several other vehicles that had been stored inside or near the structure. Brisk winds ended up blowing the flames to the west, where approximately two acres of sagebrush were burned. A few power poles on the northern side of 200 South were also damaged.

No injuries were reported. Officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Responding agencies included Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Parowan Fire Department, Brian Head Fire Department, Paragonah Fire Department, Color County Interagency Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance. A Rocky Mountain Power crew was also on site to assist with the damaged power poles and lines.

“The Iron County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend their gratitude to all the first responders  who were involved in managing this incident and ensuring the safety of the community,” the news release concluded.

This report is based on preliminary statements from first responders or law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
