Kevin James Johnson

Nov. 17, 1962-June 21, 2024

Kevin James Johnson graduated unexpectedly from this earthly plane on June 21, 2024 while at home in Ivins, Utah. Kevin was born to loving parents Bea and Everett Johnson, on Nov. 17, 1962, in Richfield, Utah. After graduating high school, Kevin studied diesel mechanics at Sevier Valley Tech. He married Stacy Musselman on Nov. 13, 1982, and had two children, Danielle and Jesse. They later divorced. Kevin proposed to his sweetheart, Debbie Celani, on Nov. 24, 2011. Through this union, Kevin gained four bonus children: Michael, Joey, Lindsay and Tina. Altogether, Kevin and Debbie have 19 grandchildren, whom they love with all their hearts.

Kevin lived a remarkable life, touching many hearts along the way. From his work with youth/teens and their families to his outdoor adventures with family and friends, Kevin created an atmosphere of love and laughter wherever he went. He was a diamond in the rough, a jewel with many facets and a jack of all trades. If something needed to be made or fixed, Kevin(powered by his favorite drink, code red) would find a way, and if ever there was a call for help, he was always there to answer.

Kevin is survived by his wife Debbie Celani; children Danielle Smith, Jesse (Rebecka) Johnson and Shaun (Kara) Cox; children Michael (Sara) Massey, Joseph (Jennifer) Massey, Lindsay (Ray) Glover and Tina Celani; sisters Lisa Johnson, Cristy Johnson and Melinda Tolbert; and grandchildren LeAnn and Zoey Smith; Lilly, Leah, and Hunter Johnson; Piper, Jeremiah, Natalie, and Nathan Cox; Jadyn, Emma and Brennan Massey; Jacob, Jeremiah, Liam and Elijah Massey; and Ruarie and Jack Glover. Kevin is preceded in death by his parents Bea and Everett Johnson; brother Brian Johnson; and grandparents Erah and John Kuykendahl, and Leah and James Johnson.

Kevin worked many different jobs in his life, some of which included: mining for Energy Fuels, maintenance for the Town of Fredonia, Fredonia-Moccasin School District, multiple youth intervention facilities and his own venture, Teen Sentinels. Kevin also volunteered his time helping youngsters throughout the years by taking on roles such as teaching hunter’s education courses and being a scoutmaster for Troop 366. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting, fishing and the like. Kevin’s family has been regaled with tales from multiple teens and their families about the ways that he had been a saving angel in their lives. Kevin put his whole heart into his family, who often shared his adventures outdoors. Do you know what those big ants taste like? Many children learned countless survival skills with the use of his homemade jerky as a reward.

Family and Friends will celebrate Kevin’s life on Saturday, July 13, at 4:30 Arizona time (5:30 Utah time) in the LDS Chapel located on 80 S Main Street in Fredonia, Arizona.
