ST. GEORGE — Do the striking features of Zion spark your creativity? Share your inspiration with others by applying to the artist-in-residence program at Zion National Park. Two artists will be selected.

The application period for 2025 residencies opened June 1 and runs through July 19, according to a news release issued by the National Park Service.

Eligibility and applications 

Two artists will be selected for the 2025 season and will each serve a monthlong residency in:

  • February 2025,
  • June 2025 or,
  • Mid-October to mid-November 2025.

All professional artists who are American citizens or U.S. permanent residents are welcome to apply. The program is only open to individual artists. Visit the online application portal to learn more about the program requirements, submit portfolio pieces and apply to be an artist-in-residence.

“We will announce the two 2025 Artists-in-Residence selectees in fall 2024,” the news release reads.

Housing, travel and supplies

According to information posted on the park’s website, selected artists will have access to rent-free, furnished, single housing within the main canyon of Zion National Park during the four-week residency.

The housing policy allows the artist to have a guest for up to seven nights.

The artist must be self-sufficient and provide all necessary supplies to work on their art. Once the donated piece of work has been received by the park, the artist will receive a $500 reimbursement to assist with travel and supply expenses. (Allow time for processing).
