ST. GEORGE — Access from northbound Interstate 15 into Leeds at Exit 22 has been closed due to a downed power line.

According to the Leeds Town Facebook page, a vehicle accident in the area damaged a power line and Rocky Mountain Power has initiated an outage from 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. so work crews can fix the problem.

“They will do their best to minimize the time,” The Leeds Town post states. “If you need power for medical equipment or to get out of the heat, please go to the LDS Church on Main Street. If you need assistance getting there, please contact the mayor at (801)597-6568 and he will get someone to you. Thank you for your patience. Please check on your neighbors and keep each other safe in this heat.”

Rocky Mountain Power reported the issue on its power outage page for Utah around 1:30 p.m. and stated power was out to a handful of customers in that area.

The Utah Department of Transportation closed the northbound exit into Leeds around 3 p.m. and projects it may reopen by 9 p.m.
