ST. GEORGE — Utah Tech will put a bow on its 2024 baseball season with a three-game home series this weekend vs. California Baptist at Bruce Hurst Field.

The first two games will be played Thursday and Friday nights at 6:05, followed by a Senior Day Saturday matinee at 12:05 p.m.

Utah Tech (13-40 overall, 9-18 Western Athletic Conference)  owns a 26-25 all-time series edge vs. California Baptist (32-21, 16-11), which dates back to when both programs were members of the Pacific West Conference.

According to a news release, this weekend’s series will serve as the final home games for Utah Tech’s 12-player senior class, including pitchers Carson Angeroth, Ky Decker, Dylan Gardner, Ryan Hardman, Ben Hart, Trevor Meisner and Justin Woodbury, along with catchers Hank Dodson and Morgan Albrecht, infielder Blake Borgogno and outfielders Chase Rodriguez and Jack Walker. The Trailblazers will also honor team student manager Brook Tanner.

Utah Tech has won 12 of the last 17 meetings vs. the Lancers overall, which includes splitting six games in consecutive three-game series played in Riverside, California, in both 2022 and 2023.

The Blazers also split a four-game home WAC series the last time the two teams squared off in St. George during the 2021 campaign.

Utah Tech baseball wrapped up the road portion of its 2024 slate on the wrong end of an 11-4 decision at in-state foe Utah on Tuesday afternoon at Smith’s Ballpark. The Trailblazers wound up with six hits on the day. Garrett Cutting went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Kyle McDaniel and Hunter Katschke each went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

And the trip to the West Coast May 10-12 was a tough one as the Trailblazers dropped three out of four to Cal Poly. The lone win was a 6-2 decision that saw Snow Canyon alum Carston Herman throw seven innings for the Trailblazers to earn the win. He scattered five hits, walked one and struck out five to improve to 3-5 on the season.
