ST. GEORGE — The report of a truck and trailer rollover on the western side of Washington County sent first responders up Gunlock Road Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. and involved a pickup truck and trailer that had gone off the road in the area of mile marker 10.5 on Gunlock Road, according to a social media post from Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue.
Along with personnel from Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue, Santa Clara-Ivins Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene with an ambulance while Washington County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene to investigate the the crash.
What they found was a pickup truck lying on its top next to a horse trailer that had landed on its side and had cows inside it. Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue firefighters ended up extricating the cows from the trailer while the driver was checked out by paramedics.
The driver and the cows came away from the rollover unharmed, according to the social media post.
While the cause of the crash is being investigated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office told St. George that driving under the influence or other substance did not appear to be a factor in the incident.
“With Summer travel season approaching, DVFR reminds drivers to use caution and drive defensively, particularly when pulling trailers and recreational vehicles,” the post states.
