ST. GEORGE — A section of 200 North downtown was closed as firefighters worked to contain the fire at Brooks Nature Park at 452 N Main St.
A large pillar of smoke was visible from miles away. Eyewitness reports indicated a strong first responder presence on Skyline Drive. Reporter E. George Goold said the flames had died down in the area as well. And as of 9:55 p.m., the fire was officially contained and out.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
9 p.m.: Firefighters report small pockets of flames still burning on hillside near nature park.
9:15 p.m.: Eyewitness report there are a handful of small flames and the smoke is nearly gone.
9:55 p.m.: No flames visible.
This is a developing story.
