“The City of South Jordan is ready to embrace the opportunity of hosting a Major League Baseball team and would love to welcome the Athletics to our community,” South Jordan Mayor Dawn Ramsey said. “Our community has a rich history of baseball with a legacy that dates back to the South Jordan Red Gales. We continue to foster a love for the game today through our very popular youth baseball programs.”

According to a media release, the construction of a new state-of-the-art ballpark is surrounded by a family-friendly entertainment district and easily accessible via TRAX or the Mountain View Corridor.

The new venue in South Jordan, known as Downtown Daybreak, is quickly becoming a favorite destination for visitors to the Wasatch Front.

“Along with our partners from the Larry H. Miller Company, we are prepared to roll out the red carpet, showcasing South Jordan as one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic areas in the state,” Ramsey said.

South Jordan is excited about this potential partnership and the myriad of possibilities the community could see affirmed their commitment to becoming a welcoming home for the Athletics.

The Oakland A’s also toured sites in Sacramento, California and Reno, Nevada in their search for a place to play home games until their new stadium in Las Vegas finished.
