ST. GEORGE — Snow in January again. And winter has only been in season for three weeks.

Some Southern Utahns dug out of their driveways Thursday morning, others anonymously cleaned off cars and scraped windshields, and still others took a far more relaxed approach.

“You know you have great co-workers when you come out at 6 a.m. and see that someone has taken the time to pull out everyone’s windshield wipers,” said Jennifer Downs Paltrineri of Cedar City in response to St. George News’ Facebook roll call for snow photos.

Some simply seized the opportunity for some old-fashioned fun.

“I’m pushing 73 years old,” Shauna Mae Carlson of Hurricane said in her Facebook comment. “Made a deal with myself to never pass up a joyous opportunity, so at 4:15 a.m., I put my coveralls on and built me this cute little (snowman). I live in Hurricane behind Lin’s. It was magical. I made a snow angel too.”

The storm hit Wednesday night and made travel difficult for some. Those driving north along the Interstate 15 corridor found the going particularly tough, and for some, it was all in a day’s work.

Aubrie Houston gave a shoutout to the Canyon View boys basketball team bus driver, who safely negotiated blinding snow to ensure the Falcons returned to their nest.

“Thank goodness for great bus drivers! Bringing a basketball team home from an away game. My son took this (photo) on the 15 just outside of Cedar City,” she wrote on Facebook.
