Washington County Commissioner Adam Snow joins leadership of Utah Association of Counties

ST. GEORGE — Washington County Commissioner Adam Snow was recently elected as the second vice president of the Utah Association of Counties, a position that county officials tout as continuing to shine attention on Washington County while also enhancing the county’s representation and influence at the state level.

It was announced earlier this week that Snow has been elected to the post by his peers within the Utah Association of Counties, also called UAC. Speaking about his new position and the association with St. George News last Tuesday, Snow said UAC is “a lobbying association of all 29 counties Utah similar to the Utah League of Cities and Towns.”

The association lobbies the Utah Legislature and Governor’s Office on issues related to state law and policy that may impact member counties for better or worse, and lobbies for state funding for certain county projects or initiatives. It also deals with the federal government to an extent.

“UAC is a consolidated voice of all 29 counties,” Snow said.

As for his election as the second vice president, Snow said it was humbling.

“It’s a nice vote of confidence from my peers that they entrusted me with the role,” he said, adding he was voted into the position not by county commissioners alone but by elected officials across all levels of county government.

The position will allow Snow to work more directly with the Governor’s Office and the leadership of the Utah House and Senate.

While he will be the second vice president of the association in 2024, Snow will automatically be elevated to the first vice president position in 2025 and then the president in 2026.

“It gives Washington County a very large voice – at least for the next four years – to make sure our interests and concerns are going to be met and addressed,” Snow said.

Before Snow joined the leadership of the association, Washington County Commissioner Victor Iverson also served as a vice president and president of the association.
