ST. GEORGE — At a time when many have returned home to spend time with loved ones for the holidays, this final full moon of 2023 reminds us of the home we carry within — and the vital need to protect it.

On Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 5:32 p.m. MDT, a full Wolf Moon at 4 degrees Cancer will illuminate the sky. As the cosmic ruler of Cancer, the moon is at home now, stirring appreciation for family.

Full moons denote culminations and endings, a time when projects come full circle and what’s been hidden is now exposed. Emotions tend to be at the surface and may feel impossible to keep suppressed.

Opposing the sun in Capricorn, this full moon activates the Cancer-Capricorn axis of survival. While Cancer is often referred to as the “Mother of the Zodiac” for its nurturing characteristics, Capricorn is a goal-oriented sign represented by the mountain goat who ascends to the top against all odds.

Together this axis illustrates the responsibilities on either side, home and family on one end and our sense of duty and accountability to the outside world. Neglecting either side is sure to backfire, for a sturdy structure rooted in sand is destined to fall.

This full moon shines a light on our own inner security to identify areas we may have been neglecting. Cancer is also known for its supreme intuition, and that’s what lights up now, a restoration of knowing that the right answers often appear in silence.

So what does all of this mean for you and your sign? Find out below.

Aries
March 21-April 19

This full moon illuminates your fourth house of home and family, dear Aries. As a foundational part of your chart, this turns your focus to how well you are nurturing yourself. Perhaps you’ve been burning the midnight oil or only focused on tangible outcomes. It’s time to remember that the most cherished successes often have no monetary value. As the year’s final days come into view, celebrate all the ways you’ve contributed to those you love.

Taurus
April 20-May 20

This week may have you feeling a bit restless, dear Taurus, as the final full moon of the year lights up your third house of communication, transportation and thinking. You may need to pour more attention into mundane tasks, and it may feel like you are in a race against yourself. But as you chip away at your to-do list, you begin to feel the weight lift off your shoulders, as freedom lives in the wake of a clean sink and completed paperwork. A conversation had now is likely to resonate in the deepest sense.

Gemini

This full moon pulls you out of the clouds and into the here and now, dear Gemini, as it activates your second house of money and value. As an air sign, you are known to drift away into the invisible world of thoughts and ideas, but the second house is about what’s tangible, what roots you to the earth and makes you feel something. With the Cancerian influence, you are being pushed to nurture your self-worth and this may mean indulging just a bit in the things that make you feel your best.

Cancer
June 21–July 22

This is your full moon, dear Cancer, as it falls in your sign and lights up your first house of identity and physical vitality. If you’ve been feeling a desire for attention, this is a week when it may be more difficult to keep your needs hidden. But rather than letting your emotions get the upper hand, you have the opportunity to practice being assertive by making your needs known. And that’s really what this is about — understanding that your needs matter. As a sign known to nurture others, it’s also vital that you nurture yourself.

Leo
July 23–August 22

This full moon lights up a hidden part of the sky for you, dear Leo, as it falls in the 12th house of the subconscious and imagination. Under this lunar influence, you’re likely to feel drawn toward spending more time alone. A retreat from excessive social chatter and activity will be vital to connect back with yourself and restore a sense of balance. As the final house in the Zodiac, the 12th house also signals endings. If something ends now, it will likely be for the better and serve as a means to heal. A secret could surface now.

Virgo
Aug. 23–Sept. 22

This full moon lights up your 11th house, a highly social sector of your sky, dear Virgo. In the 11th house, a full moon turns your focus to how you broadly connect to others and understand your role within group associations. This is about the happiness you find in nurturing a connection with others. As a part of this, a situation may arise now with a friend that prompts you to provide some sort of assistance, or you could be called to help with a humanitarian effort. A revelation about your future and the dreams you hold closest to your heart could crystalize now.

Libra
Sept. 23–Oct. 22

It’s your time to shine, dear Libra, as this full moon illuminates the highest part of your sky, the 10th house of career and public reputation. With all eyes on you, especially on the work front, it’s best to put your best foot forward now. Efforts of the past may be rewarded, and you may receive some sort of recognition, promotion or raise. Projects come full circle. But under the Cancerian influence, it’s essential to not only look outward for validation. This is about taking pride in past efforts and acknowledging just how far you’ve come.

Scorpio
Oct. 23–Nov. 21

This full moon awakens your ninth house of beliefs, higher education and long-distance travel, dear Scorpio. If you’ve been wanting to call in more adventure in your life, now is the time to listen to that call. Your personal beliefs could be tested now. If you’ve been feeling bogged down by mundane tasks, a desire to escape and try something new will likely push to the surface.

Sagittarius
Nov. 22–Dec. 21

A full moon in your eighth house provokes a need to assess the give and take in your life, especially in matters related to resources and money, dear Sagittarius. A deeply psychological house, the eighth house also highlights power struggles as well as circumstances that prompt transformation. Someone may lean on you now for financial support or vice versa. And under the Cancerian influence, it’s essential for you to care for yourself and take back your power if you’ve given it away.

Capricorn
Dec. 22–Jan. 19

With the sun still in your sign, this full moon is happening in the opposite sign to yours, aiming your focus on partnerships, dear Capricorn. How effectively do you feel your relationships serve you? You may find that this is a time when others’ true natures are revealed and it will be much more difficult to turn away. Well-balanced relationships could deepen at this time. And the ones that have proved not worth your time could fall away.

Aquarius
Jan. 20–Feb. 18

With this full moon happening in your sixth house of day-to-day routine, you will be confronting health and work-related issues that may be negatively affecting your well-being, dear Aquarius. An abrupt desire to change underscores this energy and is strengthened by the nurturing influence of Cancer. How well are you caring for yourself? It’s time to take stock of your habits and finally say enough to that which is no longer serving you.

Pisces
Feb. 19 – March 20

This full moon is happening in a playful, heart-centered part of your sky, turning your focus to what brings you joy, dear Pisces. In the fifth house of self-expression, children, hobbies and romance, a full moon provokes a desire to get in touch with your inner child. The key word here is play! A creative project could come to fruition now, or you could feel a jolt of inspiration to partake in beloved hobbies that fell by the wayside. It’s a good time for dating and feeling the spark of romance.
