The incident occurred around 4:14 p.m. near the intersection of Brigham Road and River Road.

St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell confirmed to St. George News that a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was rear-ended by a black sports car as the vehicles drove northbound on River Road.

Mitchell said that the driver of the truck, a 31-year-old male, injured his arm in the collision and self-transported to St. George Hospital.

The driver of the sports car, Mitchell said, was a 19-year-old female. Mitchell said the sports car was traveling approximately 45 miles per hour when it rear-ended the pickup.

Officers conducted field sobriety tests on the female and discovered alcohol in her car. Mitchell said the driver was cited for following too closely and for minor possession of alcohol.

Both vehicles were able to pull off the road enough to allow unimpeded northbound traffic on River Road.

This report is based on statements by police personnel and may not include the full scope of the findings.
