Wayne ‘Lego’ Louis Petersen

Sept. 24, 1964-Oct. 16, 2023

Wayne “Lego” Louis Petersen passed to the spirit world embraced with love and greeted by his loved ones on Oct. 16, 2023.

Wayne was born Sept. 24, 1964, in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, where he was adopted by his mother Vicky and gained a sister, Anne.

He spent his youth in New Zealand and Australia. Some memorable fun times were spent with his beloved uncle Micky and many cousins. When Wayne was 11, he and his mom moved to Laie, Hawaii, on the north shore of Oahu. He loved his Boy Scout years and riding waves at his favorite beach, Pounders.  He attended Kahuku High School, where marching band was a highlight and was highly respected and an honor.

After high school, he attended Utah State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He was a very talented actor with a commanding stage presence and a beautiful singing voice.

He started his acting career in Los Angeles, where he won an Ovation award for best actor. Another highlight of his career was the role of the king in “The King and I,” touring nationally and in Brazil. In St. George, he performed at Tuacahn as the king in “The King and I” and also in “Aida.”  For several summers, he performed at the Lyric Repertory Theater in Logan, Utah.

He also started a successful production company, Doc Films USA, where he filmed and edited commercials and short films.

His greatest accomplishment was his son Mason. Favorite times with Mason were spent golfing as he was so proud to have Mason by his side.

Lego met the love of his life, a country girl no less, and they spent 20 years together visiting Hawaii and her hometown near Richfield – reminding him of his laid-back upbringing in Australia and Hawaii. An added bonus was his stepdaughter Lark and granddaughter Callie.

His passion, besides acting, was cooking for friends and family where he served up great food and memorable good times with his fun sense of humor. He adored his dogs, Sassy and Cisco, who eagerly greeted him on the other side. He leaves behind sweet Annie Oakley, who is missing her daddy.

Lego was a wonderful friend, husband, father and uncle who is going to be missed and forever remain a huge part of our lives and in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his mother Vicky Mestrovic Smith. He is survived by his sweetheart Lynnette, son Mason, stepdaughter Lark, granddaughter Callie, sister Anne, many nieces and nephews and his Down Under family.

Visitation and Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Oct. 21, from 3-4 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 1316 South 400 East, Unit 3B, St. George, Utah.  Everyone is welcome to come and share memories of Lego/Wayne.

Family and friends are invited to share tributes online. Arrangements and memorial tree planting by Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 435-986-9100.
