Donna Marvella Peterson

June 10, 1929-Oct. 8, 2023

Our wonderful matriarch Donna Marvella Peterson, age 94, joined her love and eternal companion when she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 8, 2023, in St George, Utah.

Donna was born June 10, 1929, in Murray, Utah, to Henry and Harriet (Hattie) Youngdell. At the age of 9, her family moved to Alamo, Nevada, with her two brothers John and Keith and one sister Evelyn (Ev).

She met the love of her life Max Ray Peterson during a family trip in Magna, Utah, and waited for him to return from the war before marrying and starting a family. They were married on Sept. 9, 1946, in West Jordan, Utah, and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Jan. 14, 1964. They raised five beautiful children in the Salt Lake Valley with lots of trips to Alamo, Nevada, where friends and family lived.

Donna had a giving heart, and her family felt her love 10-fold. She truly lived life through simple pleasures: family gatherings, chatting with friends, cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was the glue that kept our family together through Sunday dinners and epic family reunions in Alamo, Nevada. She took a very active role in raising her grandchildren and loved them fiercely. She was a peacemaker and incredibly patient, always saying, “It takes two to make an argument.”

She is survived by two sons David Ray (Kris) Peterson, Robert John Peterson and one daughter Sharon Dell (Rick) Minogue; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons; Neils (Loralee) Peterson and Don Peterson; three great-grandchildren; Travis Slaymaker, Chance Slaymaker and Jocey Booth; as well as her siblings.

Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 18, from noon to 2 p.m. at the LDS Church in Alamo, Nevada.

Arrangements are under the care of Pine View Mortuary, 435-986-4222. Visit the Pine View Mortuary website for full obituary and funeral service listing.
