ST. GEORGE — Ali Mulhall is living a dream.

After an already distinguished career featuring 342 tournament golf titles, Mulhall was recently named as the first Black Desert Team Athlete at Black Desert Resort in Ivins.

As such, Mulhall will represent Black Desert Resort during tournaments and corporate events.

She will practice and play out of Black Desert Resort and will have access to world-class facilities to support her training and development.

“I’ve had a chance to play the course,” Mulhall recently told St. George News. “The scenery is beautiful. The layout with the black lava rock with the red mountains behind. And then the course itself is just spectacular.

“It’s exciting to see it grow even more throughout the next couple of months,” she added.

As reported in St. George News, legendary golfer Tom Weiskopf designed the 19-hole course and oversaw its construction before he died in 2022.

“You really can’t hit it outside of where the grass is. You’ve really got to hit it straight in there,” Mulhall said. “Then if you do miss you don’t know where that’s going to go, it can go bad, good or okay.”

Ali’s father and coach, Chris Mulhall, is a fine golfer himself, a member of the PGA and owner of Champ X Academy.

He said that although he never had the chance to meet Weiskopf, it’s a rare privilege to get to play at Black Desert Resort.

“When you hear him talking on the GPS about how to play each hole, what a cool experience,” Chris Mulhall said.

On the course, when golfers pull up to a tee box, Weiskopf’s recorded voice comes over the speaker in their golf cart and tells them tips for each hole.

“It’s the best golf course I’ve ever played,” Chris Mulhall said. “It’s really fun to play, it makes you hit a lot of different golf shots. Some courses you play, it’s pretty vanilla. There’s nothing about Black Desert’s course that is vanilla.”

Ali Mulhall’s golfing journey started in Wyoming, where she was a four-time Women’s Amateur Champion from 2018-2022.

Then she hit Nevada, where she was a three-time state champion at Coronado High School in Las Vegas.

Mulhall finished third at the World Long Drive Championship in Tokyo, Japan. She made history as the first female to qualify for the 2020 Men’s Nevada Open.

Now she’ll be fine-tuning her game and her skills at the mecca of Utah golf.

“The golf in St. George is probably the best in Western America,” Ali Mulhall said, noting the quality and quantity of courses as well as the opportunity for year-round golf.

Mulhall made her debut as a Black Desert Team Athlete in the LPGA Epson Tour last August. She will golf in the TaylorMade National Club Championship on Dec. 12 and at the Arizona Open on Dec. 15.
