The Ford Super Duty pickup had veered off I-15 around 9:40 a.m. near mile marker 16 in Arizona, authorities said. Because the vehicle didn’t block the road, there was little disruption to traffic, and the pickup’s driver, its only passenger, had minor bruises but no other injuries.
Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Department Battalion Chief Andre Ojeda said despite the vehicle being upside down, it wasn’t a true rollover.
“According to the driver, it veered off the road to the right a little bit, and then he overcorrected and went all the way across the oncoming lane,” Ojeda said. “When he got off the pavement, his vehicle did half a turn and he ended up upside down.”
While the injuries were minor, Ojeda said the driver still couldn’t get out as the doors were jammed. Ojeda said firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the door and extricate him.
“We tried to open the door and it was jammed a little bit, so we had to use the extrication tools to get him out.”
