Perks! Espresso & Smoothies has partnered with Canyon Creek Services, a vital nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, to run a campaign to help survivors.

“We are going to be doing this campaign for 20 ‘brew-tiful’ years to show how Perks has really perked up the community in so many ways, from the everyday people gathering and celebrating events to the fact that we do so much within the community,” Indigo Klabanoff, marketing director at Perks, told St. George News.

Perks is inviting its customers to make a difference. Donations for Canyon Creek Services can be dropped off at any Perks location, including the Sunset Flagship location and the Washington store. These donations will go directly toward providing shelter, counseling and advocacy services to survivors, offering them hope and a path to a better life, Klabanoff said.

The anniversary campaign began Sunday and will span the entire month of October. As a token of gratitude, those who donate will receive a 10% discount on their coffee purchase.

Perks owner Lori Hanna said the mission of Canyon Creek Services is something that is especially dear to her heart. She said she and several other team members have been exposed to the terrors of domestic violence — both physical and mental.

Not only does domestic violence take a toll on victims, she said, it also bleeds onto those around them, often creating needs they cannot fathom how to meet or circumstances they don’t know how to change. That’s where Canyon Creek Services comes into play.

“I appreciate what Canyon Creek is about,” Hanna said. “Not only do they serve front line to those affected and victimized by domestic violence and sexual abuse, but they’re also being proactive with education about the whys and red flags that often proceed such abuse. I believe lending our support is resources and effort well spent.”

The coffee shop is organizing awareness events, collaborating with local advocates and launching a social media campaign to encourage open conversations and understanding of the issues faced by survivors.

“We’re showcasing the fact that Canyon Creek Services needs help year-round, and it’s just as small as a donation of a cleaning product or hand soap,” Klabanoff said.

As Perks commemorates two decades of enriching lives through coffee and community, she said their commitment to the community extends far beyond the espresso machine. By partnering with Canyon Creek Services and inviting the community to contribute, they hope to create compassion, resilience and unity, showing that they don’t just brew coffee, they’re brewing change for a better world.
