Dorit Charlotte Herman

June 18, 1935-Sept. 26, 2023

Dorit Charlotte Herman, 88, was born June 18, 1935, in Berlin, Germany, to Karl and Lydia (Bransky) Koerber. Dorit lived through World War II with her parents and siblings. She and her family suffered through a great deal of hard times and separation from their father during and after the war. Miraculously, they were reunited and returned to the west side of Berlin. A very long story for another time and placeā€¦ They eventually came to America (Billings, Montana) in 1951, and Dorit became a U.S. citizen in 1970.

Dorit worked various jobs in her early life. She even studied to become a nurse. But her true calling came in the 1970s when cable TV became popular. She went door to door selling cable TV and was so successful that she was offered the COO position at Telecrafter Corporation.

She then traveled all over America selling cable installation products. She met Ted Turner, an early cable pioneer, and Tony Bennett, whom she challenged to a tennis match. He declined. She would have killed him. Dorit and her husband Tom owned and operated two campgrounds and cabins in West Yellowstone, Montana, from 1980-2017.

Dorit loved to play tennis. She won the Billings City League Championship for Ladies 40 and over. She loved flowers, especially roses. She loved to play the poker slot machines. She and Tom spent many weekends in Jackpot and Laughlin, Nevada, being pampered by the High Rollers Club.

Dorit is preceded in death by her husband Tom; her mother and father; and her brother Freddie. She is survived by her sister Erika and family; her three sons Greg (Bobette), Dave and Kenny; her four grandchildren Lindsey, Jason, Jared and Josh; and nine great-grandchildren. She will be missed more than we can say. She is loved by us all.

Funeral services will be private.

Condolences may be shared on the McMillan Mortuary website.
