The industry hosts a variety of jobs, from working in community pharmacies such as chains, grocery stores and independent pharmacies to institutional pharmacies, which include hospitals, closed-door pharmacies, long-term care facilities and even remote positions. With starting salaries ranging from $18 to $21 per hour and the potential to earn over $30 per hour, pharmacy technicians can enjoy the benefits of a sustainable, secure and fulfilling work life.

While the profession offers an impactful and steady career in the health care industry, it also requires proper training, certification and state-specific licensure. With Dixie Technical College’s ASHP-accredited program, it has never been more practical to get started on your path to a career.

The college’s “Pharmacy Technician – Advanced” program is designed to equip beginner students with all the necessary basics required to work in the field and allow them to put their knowledge into practice during an externship at a local pharmacy.

The comprehensive nine-month program comprises 4 1/2 months of classroom and lab sessions followed by a four-month externship for hands-on experience. The program is practical, provides quality hands-on training and has multiple cohorts that can fit into any schedule.
