St. George Police Sgt. Lydon Allred told St. George News that a motorcycle carrying two riders was traveling south on 1000 East in St. George toward the intersection with St. George Blvd at 11:25 a.m. It reportedly had the right of way. A jeep exited a nearby Maverick parking lot and struck the motorcycle.

“The white Jeep pulled out and didn’t see the motorcycle, or at least that’s what it appears at this point, and slammed into the side and back of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle riders to go down,” Allred said.

The motorcycle’s driver and passenger — a man and a woman in their mid-40s — had scratches, bruises and leg injuries, he added.

The injuries appeared minor, and they were transported to St. George Regional Hospital by ambulance as a precaution, Allred said.

The Jeep’s driver and passenger, both men in their mid-30s, reportedly didn’t require medical care.

Responding in addition to the St. George Police Department were the St. George Fire Department and a Gold Cross Ambulance.

This report is based on preliminary statements from law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
