Virginia Ashworth Jones

March 6, 1940-Aug. 28, 2023

Our beautiful, sweet mother, grandmother and friend Virginia Ashworth Jones died at home peacefully on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83. Her late husband, Albert Jones, welcomed her with open arms into heaven.

Virginia was born March 6, 1940, to Heber Harvey and Icevinda Ward Ashworth in Beaver, Utah. She was raised by her Uncle Burl (Unkie) until she was 6 years old, where she was doted on like the princess she was. She was a graduate of Beaver High School and on June 14, 1957, was married to the love of her life, Albert Jones. She was sealed to Albert in the St George Utah Temple in 2003. Together, they started a beautiful family, having five children. Having a passion for real estate, she obtained her real estate license and became an exceptional realtor for many years helping families realize their dreams.

Virginia was spunky and always charged full speed ahead. She loved life and life loved her right back. Through the good times and the bad, she never wavered in her determination. She was most proud of her family, who were the joy and light of her life. She loved to bring people together and was a true matriarch. Never one to mince words, you could always rest assured that she would let you know how she was feeling and what she thought. She loved to spend time with friends and play cards as often as she could. Even after receiving a sobering cancer diagnosis, she never slowed down. For the next 17 years, she continued to live her life to the fullest.

She is survived by her five children Kelly (Christine deceased) Jones, Sheila (Ronald deceased) Jones, James (Amy deceased) Jones, Melanie (Daniel) Grant, and Shane Jones; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her little dogs Bailey and Harley. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Howard, Frank, Albert and Harold and one grandson.

Funeral services will then be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 10-11 a.m.

Graveside services will then follow at the Paragonah Cemetery, located at 689 East Center St., Paragonah, Utah.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Zachary Reese, the medical staff at St. George Cancer Center, to her home health and hospice nurse and friend Becky, and the hospice team who so lovingly cared for her until the end.

Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff St., St. George, 435-673-2454. Family and friends are invited to sign Virigina’s online guest book.
