Utah State Parks to offer free admission on Military Appreciation Day

ST. GEORGE — Active military personnel, veterans and their families in the same vehicle can take advantage of free day-use entrance to Utah’s state parks Saturday, Aug. 12, for the annual Military Appreciation Day

“We owe a lot to these individuals, and it is important to recognize their service,” Utah State Parks Director Jeff Rasmussen said in a news release. “Setting aside this day to honor those currently serving and those who have previously served is something Utah State Parks is both happy and proud to do. Their sacrifices have given us the freedoms and safety that we enjoy.” 

Aside from free entrance, some parks will offer additional activities for Military Appreciation Day include in the following:

  • Military displays and reenactments at Camp Floyd State Park Museum.
  • Flag ceremony at Fremont Indian State Park.
  • Free breakfast for military veterans and family at Yuba State Park.

The Utah Division of State Parks also offers qualifying veterans access to a Veterans With Disabilities Honor Pass. This pass is for Utah resident veterans who were honorably discharged from military service and have a service-related disability. To qualify, veterans need to provide a summary of benefits letter issued by the Department of Veterans and Military Affairs. The Honor Pass grants day-use access for the eligible veteran and up to seven guests in the same vehicle. Certain restrictions apply.
