NDOT Public Information Officer Justin Hopkins said that the construction zone will be between mileposts 96 and 118 on Interstate 15, between Exit 93 Logandale/Overton and Exit 118 Lower Flat Top Dr. in Mesquite.

“To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety, one lane will be restricted in either the north- or southbound direction of I-15 for up to five miles between mile markers,” the statement said.

The construction schedule is set for work to be performed mainly during night hours of weekdays. The official times are from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., on Sunday nights through Friday mornings.

According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, there will be no construction work done during the weekends, during daytime and on holidays to help lessen traffic congestion.

“This decision is aimed at minimizing disruptions and facilitating a seamless driving experience for travelers during peak traffic times,” Hopkins said.

The speed limit will be 55 mph during the construction scheduled times. The release says there will be intermittent overnight ramp closures at interchanges and truck parking lots.

The open-grade paving is “an extensive project that commenced in early 2022.”

This construction project, which includes the following tasks: paving, ITS installation, drainage work, barrier construction and landscaping, is expected to continue until mid-October.

Hopkins said it is best to make sure to travel with enough water, gas and comfort needs while traveling through and during the construction work times. It is recommended to use caution in surroundings while driving and not to be distracted by cell phones or mobile devices. Common courtesy was stressed, especially when merging.

Nevada Department of Transportation also works in partnership with the Waze traffic and travel app for current updates and statuses of roads.  Drivers may also visit www.nvroads.com or call 511 for road condition updates.

UPDATE, Aug. 1 2023 @ 1:45 p.m.: Press release had a mistake on milepost and exit number. The article was updated to correct milepost and exit number.
