ST. GEORGE — Tabernacle Street was turned into a candy lane early Tuesday morning as the city of St. George kicked off 4th of July festivities with its annual parade.

Floats were designed around the theme, “Land of the free, because of the brave.” Participants on the floats tossed candy by the fist-full to swarms of children that lined the parade route.

The parade route started on West Tabernacle near the Washington County School District offices, then headed to 400 East and down to and around Vernon Worthen Park, and finished on 300 East behind Legacy Elementary School.

Both sides of Tabernacle were lined up and down the blocks with children waiting for candy and adults seeking shade. While parade floats rolled for over an hour, the heat of the day had yet to set in and paradegoers enjoyed ideal conditions.
