ST. GEORGE — After a soft opening last weekend, the National Park Service expects another busy season at Cedar Breaks, according to a news release National Park Service.
Point Supreme will remain closed throughout the season as construction resumes on the new Visitor Contact Station. Summer services have already begun at the North View Information Booth and at the Temporary Information Center including the Zion Forever Project park store.
These services include Ranger programs, pass sales, visitor information and gift store sales. The Point Supreme Campground will open June 30, for reservations visit this website.
Due to heavy snowpack over the winter, the trails at Cedar Breaks are slow to melt and are currently closed. It is planned to open dry portions of the Sunset and Alpine Pond trails within the next week. The remainder of the trails will open as thawing permits.
Cedar Breaks will hold its annual festivals this season and will continue its Bio Blast Friday, June 23, through Sunday, June 25. This festival is focused on the wildlife within the Monument and includes wildlife specific Ranger programs, wildlife activity tables with furs, animal tracks, skulls, pollinators, butterflies and more at both the Yurt at the alpine pond trailhead and at the North View Overlook.
Future festivals at Cedar Breaks are as follows; Wildflower Festival July 7-16, Geology Festival Aug. 5– 6, Heritage Festival Aug. 19-20 and the Astronomy Festival Sept. 15-17.
Star Gazing Parties at Cedar Breaks will begin June 30th and occur every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the North View Overlook from 6:30-11 p.m.
