According to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the rafters found the body at 12:37 p.m. about two miles upstream from the Westwater Ranger Station in Grand County.
The rafters reported the body, secured it to their raft and floated down river to a ranger station where deputies from Mesa County, in Colorado, and Grand County in Utah, recovered the man.
The body is an unidentified adult male and is being transported to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office, said Grand County Sheriff’s Al Cymbaluk. As of Thursday evening no foul play was suspected, although the investigation is still ongoing.
