The festivities kicked off Friday evening with a grand entry featuring dancers of all ages in colorful ceremonial regalia, accompanied by traditional drummers from the group Red Spirit.

Saturday featured two additional grand entry programs, one in the afternoon and another celebration to cap off the evening.

Other highlights on Saturday included a street parade in the morning, selected images from which can be viewed in the video above and in the photo gallery below, along with coverage of Saturday night’s grand entry program.

A variety of dance awards were given out, in different age categories.

Other activities included a handgame tournament, a pageant, a “rez car show” and a bird-singing exhibition. A special Father’s Day honor song was scheduled for midday Sunday, just as the dancers were winding down and participants were finishing their weekend celebration.

The next scheduled powwow to be hosted by Cedar Band of Paiutes will be an indoor event held over Thanksgiving weekend in November.
