ST. GEORGE — A motorcyclist was injured on Gunlock Road after losing control and crashing on Tuesday evening.

Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer Hunter Wolfe said this was the second such incident in about two weeks at the same location. The previous one involved a motorcyclist who was found about 60 feet from his motorcycle on May 28.

Wolfe said at about 5:38 p.m., a 911 call came in and Dammeron Valley Fire and Rescue were dispatched to around 1385 West Gunlock Road where an adult man was found to have lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. He said the incident occurred “probably from speeding.”

Unlike the incident on May 28, this man was not alone, traveling in a group of other motorcyclists.

“He was conscious and had a helmet on,” Wolfe said.

The man was stabilized and deemed in serious condition at the scene. He was transported by ambulance to St. George Regional Hospital by Santa Clara-Ivins Fire and Rescue.

His current condition is unknown, but Wolfe said he was in better shape than he could have been because he was wearing protective gear.

Again, the words of advice from Wolfe are to slow down.

“Gunlock Road is very curvy and turns are longer or sharper than they appear,” Wolfe said. “Slow down.”

He acknowledged the other responding agencies, which included Gunlock Fire Department, Santa Clara-Ivins Fire and Rescue, Veyo Fire Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

“These incidents get very technical and it is tremendous to have such adequate effort and cooperation amongst all responding agencies,” Wolfe said.

Traffic was minimally affected.

This report is based on statements from law enforcement officials and first responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
