Donald Keith McNabb

Oct. 1, 1936-March 26, 2023

Donald Keith McNabb passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 26, 2023. He was 86.  He was born Oct. 1, 1936, in Visalia, California.  He met the love of his life, Marlene Costa, and after a long courtship married her on Sept. 6, 1964.  They were married for 58 wonderful years.

Don served for a number of years in the National Guard and studied business administration at the University of California at Berkeley, which served him in his career at the J.C. Penney Co. He started in the stock room as a clerk and rose to the position of manager in a career that spanned 34 years. Don was an avid player of golf. He and Marlene were members of the Bloomington Country Club and in his later years volunteered his time as director of “social golf” in the Huntsman World Senior Games.

Don was a parishioner of the St. George Catholic Church. He was a man of deep faith that expressed itself in everything he did and everyone he touched. He had a love of the outdoors, of making people laugh, reading detective novels, doing odd jobs around the house and spoiling his favorite feline – Maggie.  As a younger man, he had a great singing voice, an ability he put to great effect in the Berkeley Glee Club, the high point of which was a singing trip to Japan.

He is survived by his wife Marlene; his children Darin, Steve, Lisa and Eric; his grandchildren Shasta, Damien, Dante, Taylor, Trae and Maitlyn; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at the St. George Catholic Church located at 259 West 200 North. A reception will follow in Kuzy Hall adjacent to the church at 12:30 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221. Visit the Metcalf Mortuary website for condolences, complete obituary and funeral listings.
