Edward ‘Ted’ Leroy Pectol

Sept. 11, 1932-March 23, 2023

Edward “Ted” Leroy Pectol was born on Sept. 11, 1932, in Washington, Utah, to William Elroy “Roy” Pectol and Gladys Iverson. He passed away on March 23, 2023, at age 91. Ted married Eleanor Condie on June 20, 1953. They were married 59 years before her passing in 2012. Ted spent his career as a drill rig operator, which took him and Eleanor across the Southwest for extended trips. In his later years, he enjoyed driving around Southern Utah and Nevada exploring new areas because of his love of geology.

Ted enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. His grandchildren still talk about the many camping trips their grandparents took them on without their parents. Ted always entered and exited a room whistling or humming a tune.

He is survived by his children Gladys Hamilton, Eddie (Peggy) Pectol, Randy (Sherry) Pectol, Polly (Paul) Bottema, 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; siblings Jim Pectol (Carolyn), Patsy (Ron) Theobald, Doug (Leslie) Pectol, Bill (Teri) Pectol, Richard Pectol, Duane Leary and Ray Leary (Jeri).

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor and siblings Gene Pectol, Nadine Sherratt, Colleen Tiernan, Jack Pectol, Janice Bonner, David Leary and Rulon “Rudy” Iverson.

Viewing will be held at Serenity Funeral Home located at 1316 South 400 East, Suite A5, St George, Utah, on Friday, March 31, from 11 a.m.-noon. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Washington City Cemetery located at 300 E. Parkview Drive, Washington, Utah.
