ST. GEORGE — A crash involving a sedan and a sports utility vehicle caused the northbound lanes of Bluff Street at 100 South to be blocked for nearly an hour Thursday night.
The incident happened around 7:20 p.m., as a white sedan collided with a blue SUV. The front passenger side of each vehicle was crunched in, though the sedan appeared more damaged. Both vehicles were towed from the site.
At the corner of Bluff and 100 South next to the entrance to Spilsbury Mortuary, officers stopped traffic from proceeding north and also turned around cars coming up 100 South that were trying to turn onto Bluff Street.
No major injuries were reported, and officers helped out the cleaning crews from St. George Fire and a tow truck company by clearing away fragments left behind from the wreckage.
St. George Police Officer Kyle Clark said officers were still trying to piece together the cause of the collision and would have to follow up with pictures taken at the scene to determine fault.
“We had one going north; one trying to make a left-hand turn,” Clark said. “We haven’t really been able to evaluate all the photographs.”
The evaluations would have to wait until later. Just as the crash at that corner was cleared at 8:10 p.m., the officers were called out to another crash about 1,000 feet to the south at 300 Bluff Street.
