The 6-year-old boy was on the Navajo Express Chair Lift when he fell for unknown reasons from a height of 20 feet, Brian Head deputy marshal Jared Burton told Cedar City News. Responders received the call around 3 p.m.

According to the Brian Head Resort website, Navajo Express is a high-speed, quad-style chairlift that spans 4,200 feet with a vertical change of 604 feet.

It appears the boy sustained a head injury but was conscious and complaining of back pain, Burton said. He was transported to the hospital in a Mercy Air Services helicopter.

Gold Cross Ambulance, Brian Head Public Safety and Brian Head Ski Patrol also responded to the call.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by first responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
