For those struggling to afford the cost of internet service, a new federal program called the Affordable Connectivity Program is here to help, and TDS is a proud participant in the program.

Affordable Connectivity Program participants who choose TDS as their internet provider may receive up to a $30 per month discount for TDS internet service. Qualifying households on tribal lands may be eligible for a discount of up to $75 per month. The program is run through the Federal Communications Commission and replaces the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.

You are likely eligible if your household’s income is below 200% of the federal poverty line, or if you or someone you live with currently receives a government benefit like SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, WIC, Pell Grant or free and reduced school lunches. It’s easy to check eligibility at AffordableConnectivity.gov

Approximately 48 million households in the United States qualify for the program. Government officials also estimate that 19 million Americans nationwide do not subscribe to an internet service, with most of those households earning less than $30,000 a year.

“The ACP reflects the need to find solutions to close broadband access gaps for those in need,” said Kit Beyer, director of external affairs and communications at TDS. “This generous program administered through the FCC is a welcome one to support our customers.”

TDS is offering Affordable Connectivity Program benefits in Utah and Nevada and in most locations throughout the country. The updated program allows eligible TDS customers to receive a monthly discount toward the available internet service of their choice. The credit will remain in place until the program funds have been exhausted or the program ends. Taxes and fees may apply.

“Internet connections have become a vital part of everyday life,” Beyer said. “We applaud this latest investment to help connect households in need; TDS will continue to champion programs that expand availability for all.”
