CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Platinum Awning has installed patio covers throughout southwestern Utah since 2018. With more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry and a keen eye for detail, owner Casey Hales is dedicated to providing the highest quality products and service.
Platinum Awning was recently recognized by Best of Southern Utah voters with a silver ribbon in awning company. The company has also collected four gold awards since the contest began in 2019.
“I’m honored and grateful to everyone that voted for us, everyone that thinks highly of us and our quality work,” Hales said. “It’s awesome to be part of such a great community where people take time out of their day to recognize those that are doing the best they can.”
Like many small businesses, Platinum Awning is still working through supply chain delays and a labor shortage. However, Hales said that customers have been overwhelmingly kind, patient and understanding, another reason why Southern Utah is a fantastic place to live and work.
Hales communicates directly with each customer and works alongside his installation crews five days a week, rain or shine.
“I don’t just show up to collect the check when it’s finished,” he said. “I’m there every step of the way.”
Platinum Awning offers a wide range of options, including all-aluminum louvered, solid and lattice top patio covers. Products come in a range of colors to match the look of any yard and home. Awnings can be free-standing or connected to the house.
The company installs awnings wherever customers want to create shade and cool things down, including courtyards, barbeque patios and pool decks. Add lighting and a ceiling fan or misting system, and homeowners can enjoy their patios all day and all night long, even during the summer.
Hales said his flagship product is the Solara Shade Select, a line of louvered awnings that allow customers to change the amount of light and heat filtering through. Using either a manual crank or a motorized system, the awning can be easily adjusted depending on the time of day and weather conditions. Having the ability to keep the awning at least partially open increases airflow and reduces the built-up heat underneath without adding any direct sunlight.
On average, temperatures are 20 degrees cooler beneath a Shade Select awning versus an uncovered patio. And when daytime highs hit the triple digits, that can make the difference between being able to sit outside or having to stay in the house.
Hales said his ability to customize patio covers is another reason Platinum Awning stands apart from the rest. He has even mixed materials to create a unique aesthetic.
“Whatever the customer wants, we’ll work with them,” he added. “We make sure their project turns out exactly as they hoped and dreamed, or even better.”
Craige S. and his wife wanted to add a patio cover in their backyard for several years but couldn’t agree on what type of product to get. Finally, they were introduced to the Shade Select awning from Platinum Awning.
“It works beautifully and is made of high-quality materials,” he said. “After it was installed, we noticed the back of our house was much cooler from the shade it provided from the hot sun.”
