Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser shares the secrets to healthy, youthful skin without surgery

CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — If you’re looking at yourself in the mirror or on a Zoom call and wishing you could recapture your skin’s youthful, healthy glow, Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser has good news. Smoother, tighter skin with fewer wrinkles and lines is possible without surgery.

Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser is the only medical spa in Southern Utah offering combination laser therapy along with comfort sedation from a board-certified anesthesiologist for the ultimate patient experience. Botox injections, fillers, facials, chemical peels, dermaplaning and microneedling are also on the clinic’s menu of services.

“Using sunscreen, high-quality skin care products, Botox and collagen-stimulating lasers can help you extend the ‘good life’ of your aging skin,” owner Shannon Evans said. “Who wouldn’t want decades of youthful skin? Starting early with key treatments and prevention will bring just that.”

Skin gradually loses vibrancy and elasticity as it begins to break down faster than it can rejuvenate due to age, the stresses of life and environmental factors. Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser employs the gold standard of laser skin tightening: the Profound Lift, a revolutionary energy-based system that can turn back the hands of time. Profound awakens the body’s own natural healing response by stimulating the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, the building blocks of healthy skin.

Profound treats the lower third of the face along with lifting sagging jowls and skin under the neck while contouring the jawline to eliminate “double chin.” It was designed to deliver one-third of the results of a surgical facelift with significantly less risk, downtime and expense.

Evans said Profound can boost elastin levels by up to five times and is the only FDA-approved device on the market with a 100% response rate for facial wrinkles.

“We are so thrilled to have incorporated the Profound Lift treatment to our office because the results patients are having are incredible, and that makes me happy,” she added.

Many patients opt for laser resurfacing in combination with skin tightening to further improve tone and texture. Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser uses Profound alongside the CO2RE skin resurfacing system to create what Evans calls “the ultimate rejuvenation treatment,” a targeted attack on problem areas both superficial and structural.

While Profound penetrates deeper skin layers, the CO2RE laser targets the upper layer of the skin for overall tightening and reduction in age spots, lines and wrinkles.

After undergoing combination laser therapy, Evans advises patients to return for monthly facials to accelerate the renewal of skin cells. This process naturally occurs about every 28 days.

Facials are both relaxing and highly beneficial for skin. Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser offers a menu of signature facials curated to address various skin concerns ranging from acne and rosacea to aging and discoloration.

Medical spa facials provide deeper exfoliation than anything patients can achieve at home, Evans said. Exfoliation smooths the skin, unclogs pores, improves the skin’s ability to retain hydration and evens out the overall tone.

Women and men of all ages visit Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser to look and feel younger with a menu of nonsurgical therapies.

“When thinking about aging, it’s about being proactive with your skin,” Evans said. “Treat concerns early rather than waiting until lines, sagging skin and pigmentation are abundant.”

Evans recommends laser skin treatments earlier rather than later as a preventative measure because they’re not invasive and work naturally with the body to delay the signs of aging. The average person loses collagen at a rate of about 1% per year beginning at age 25, and less collagen leads to thinner, saggier skin plus the development of wrinkles.

It’s never too early to think about sun damage, Evans said, especially in a desert climate. Daily use of an effective broad-spectrum sunscreen not only reduces the risk of skin cancer but also helps prevent premature wrinkling, pigmentation and loss of elasticity.

Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser carries zinc-based sunscreen from EltaMD. Zinc reflects and reduces the broadest range of UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays, helping to protect the skin. Wearing a hat on bright days also makes a difference, Evans said.

Desert Sands Aesthetics & Laser has been building up steam within the Southern Utah medical aesthetics market since its opening in September 2020. Evans, who worked as a registered nurse for over 25 years before training in injectables and laser aesthetics, takes pride in being able to offer cutting-edge skin care services in a welcoming environment where patient comfort and confidence are the top priority.

“Everyone has different skin care concerns, because no one is the same,” she said. “I consider it an art.”
