CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Not only does nurse practitioner Brooke Larsen love dermatology, she is passionate about it.
“I love that I can help people,” said Larsen, a skin specialist with a doctorate of nursing practice at Vivida Dermatology. “I can help them get better.”

Although she is one of the newest providers at Vivida Dermatology, she has worked in nursing for 18 years, served as a nurse practitioner for seven years and been able to diagnose quite a few skin cancers to save patient’s lives.
Working in general dermatology as a nurse practitioner, her days are filled with treating all types of diseases and medical issues that may appear on the surface of the skin. Her duties include examining patients for a variety of conditions, including skin checks, dermatitis, psoriasis, moles, acne, warts, infections caused by viruses or bacteria and a lot of eczema cases.
“I actually have eczema, so I decided to go into dermatology to kind of work on my own skin,” she said.
Larsen said she really enjoys the medical side of dermatology but also the cosmetic side, such as helping patients with Botox, fillers and laser treatments.
She believes that within her business it is important to have both male and female providers because it offers patients variety and an opportunity to see the person they are most comfortable with.
