ST. GEORGE – It’s the first big weekend of high school basketball in the state of Utah, with all six Region 9 teams playing multiple games.
Five of the six teams – Cedar, Dixie, Hurricane, Desert Hills and Pine View – are playing at the 3A Preview tournament held annually at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
Cedar plays at 11:30 a.m. Friday against Grantsville, then follows that up with a 3 p.m. Saturday battle against Tooele.
Dixie faces Union at 2:30 p.m. Friday and battles Morgan at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Hurricane will take on South Sevier at 5:30 p.m. Friday and then face off against Richfield at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Desert Hills goes up against Morgan at 1 p.m. Friday then will play Grantsville at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Pine View has a 4 p.m. Friday date with Manti, then battles Union at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Dixie, Hurricane, Desert Hills and Pine View games can be heard on SportsRadio 97.7 FM/1210 AM.
Snow Canyon is at the Bear River Winter Classic and will play three games – Thursday at 6 p.m. vs. North Sanpete, Friday at 6 pm. vs. South Summit and Saturday at 3:30 p.m. vs. the host school, Bear River.
The Region 9 girls teams also have a full slate of games, with Desert Hills, Hurricane and Snow Canyon playing in a tourney hosted by the Lady Thunder and Dixie hosting its own tournament.
