Colleen Vance, age 77, passed away on Sept. 15, 2022. She was born on Oct. 1, 1944 in Sacramento, California, to Lorraine Violet Getchell and Robert Johnson Fluharty. Colleen was raised in Roseville, California, and graduated from Roseville High School in 1958. She attended Cosmetology School in Sacramento.

She married the love of her life, Milo Scott Vance, in 1970. They raised two beautiful daughters, Kamara and Kristina in Roseville, CA. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1974. She worked at Sierra Gardens Elementary School in Roseville for 20-plus years as an instructional aide. She also worked at Macy’s Department Store. In 2004, Colleen and Scott moved to Pine Valley, Utah. In 2016, they moved to St. George where she cared for Scott in his final years.

Colleen is survived by her two daughters: Kamara (Ken Harris) and Kristina (Trevor Thatcher); 7 grandchildren: Cassady (Jordan), Hannah, Vance, Samuel, Kalem, Quincy, Blakely; a great-granddaughter, Maggie; and two siblings: brother, Michael (Sharon Fluharty) and sister, Sharon (Pat Martin).

Colleen cherished her church membership and the friends she made in the Lord’s service. Her knowledge of the plan of salvation and eternal families was a strength and comfort to her throughout her life. She loved her home and caring for others. Her generosity has been felt by many over the years.

We appreciate the tender care provided to our mother during her final days by the staff at Sun Tree Hospice.
