ST. GEORGE —A 4-door pickup truck crashed on state Route18 near mile marker 6 just after 3 a.m. Sunday and caught fire, closing all lanes of traffic just south of The Ledges of St. George while the crash and fire were investigated.
According to St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell, the incident involved a single-vehicle rollover with one male occupant who was ejected from the truck as it rolled multiple times. The truck caught fire and was fully engulfed.
Brush nearby was ignited and St. George Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames.
The male driver was taken to St. George Regional Hospital in serious condition. Accident reconstruction arrived on the scene to investigate whether speed and impairment contributed to the crash.
