ST. GEORGE — An employee of a fast-food restaurant in St. George was booked into jail facing felony charges after allegedly showing a pornographic video to two juveniles while on the clock.
Shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, St. George Police received a report about an employee at a fast-food restaurant located in St. George possibly showing pornography to teens.
According to the probable cause statement filed in support of the arrest, the employee, 24-year-old Leodan Gerardo Alfaro, was speaking to two juvenile girls during his shift. And when asked, he said he had a girlfriend and asked if the teens wanted to see her.
Authorities say the suspect then showed both girls a video of the suspect performing a sexual act on a “completely nude female.” When he attempted to scroll through his cell phone, “in an attempt show them more videos,” the teens left the area.
The incident was reported to the manager of the restaurant, who then called the police. The teens were both interviewed by authorities, while officers attempted to question the suspect.
Alfaro “refused to answer questions regarding the incident,” the report states. He was arrested and transported to Purgatory Correctional Facility, where he initially was initially booked into jail on two misdemeanor counts of dealing in materials harmful to minors.
Once the proposed charges were sent to the Washington County Attorney’s Office for review, they were enhanced to two third-degree felonies.
The suspect was released from custody later that same night, and an initial appearance has yet to be scheduled in the case.
A manager said they immediately contacted authorities after being advised of the situation and Alfaro was terminated from his employment following the arrest.
This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
