Competing as “The Cedar 6,” the group outplayed seven other teams at the highly competitive tournament, staged from Feb. 28 to March 3 at Loveland Laser Tag in Loveland, Colorado.

“We took a sweeping victory, only losing two games in round play, and winning every single game in finals,” Caleb Bittar, the team’s commander, told Cedar City News.

The eight teams in the tournament battled each other head-to-head in an advanced and competitive game mode called Space Marines 5. Bittar described the gameplay as a fast-paced, elimination-style contest wherein the team players take on different, specialized roles.

In addition to commander Bittar, who uses the in-game nickname “Slaughtermelon,” the Cedar 6 consisted of heavy weapons specialist Adam Forsyth (“Tandaor”), medic Matthew Alldredge (“Medz”), ammo carrier Brett Andersen (“Inferno”), and scouts Dallen Forsyth (“Snufflez”) and Brandon Eves (“Thunder”).

Four of the men live in the Cedar City area and work at Cedar Fun Center, while the other two hail from Salt Lake City and Kanab.

The Cedar 6 team members brought home a total of 18 trophies, including a first-place trophy for each of the six team members, plus 12 other trophies that included individual MVP awards for their respective positions.

Bittar said the team is now getting geared up to play in an annual international tournament in July. The location and date haven’t been set yet, but Bittar said it might take place in St. George. Several of the participants in the Loveland tournament were international players, representing countries such as Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, he said.
