Joseph Anthony “Blue” Bailey, 70, of Washington, Utah, died on June 18, 2024.

Born in San Francisco, California, in 1954 to William Bailey and Beverly Titus. Blue graduated from the school of Hard Knocks and spent much of his youth living between foster homes and with a grandmother he called the “second meanest woman in the world.” After emancipation at the age of 16, Blue bootstrapped himself to a career as a maritime engineer, becoming one of the most well-known and well-respected men in his field. At a young age he met the mother of his children, the bane of his existence and the woman of his dreams (probably?), and spent the rest of his days dedicated to being the father that he never had, the provider of infinite love, a cliff upon which no sea or earthly force could break and a glowing beacon in the murkiest of ocean storms – of which he sailed often.

Master of the Thousand-Yard Stare, Blue could cut a more contemplative figure than the Thinking Man. A true hot-rodder in all ways, he restored, modified, sold, traded and bought more old Chevy’s than a dealership, except for a brief mid-life crisis that ended in him choosing No Car over Mopar – until he bought another Chevy.

Blue is survived by his 1957 Chevy, four children and eight grandchildren who loved him almost as much as he loved them – for there is no powerful and enduring love than that of a father like Blue.
