Diane Fern Douglas

May 21, 1949-May 28, 2024

Diane Fern Douglas, 75, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away bedside May 28, 2024, from diabetes complications in her Washington, Utah, home. She was born May 21, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jack H. and Fern R. Douglas, both deceased. After graduating from Salt Lake’s East High School in 1967, she primarily worked in customer service “ground positions” for three airlines– American, United and finally, SkyWest in St. George, Utah, as their public relations manager.

Diane’s artistic talent was recognized in her early school years, working in a variety of mediums (oils, pastel chalk, pen and ink). She then gained expertise as a stained glass artist, working in beveled and fused glass dimensional sculpture, studying under world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. She settled for more than a decade in her rustic, self-designed Apple Valley, Utah, home with connected studio and kiln, professionally creating glass masterpieces and amazingly lifelike desert art in multiple mediums.

Diane was adventurous, well-traveled, mischievous, enjoyed camping and hiking Southern Utah with friends, and above all, loved her dogs (and cats).  She is survived by her older half-brother Jack S. Douglas and sister-in-law Karlan M. Hunter Douglas, also of Washington, Utah; her younger brother D.R. Douglas from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington area; and her favorite Uncle Jay and Auntie Lori Richardson of Salt Lake City.

Arrangements are under the direction of McArthur Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 160 West 700 South, St. George, 435-652-2844. Family and friends are invited to click here to sign Diane’s online guest book.
