Shortly after 2:30 p.m., a Red Dodge Ram reportedly ran a red light while traveling west at 3700 W. State Street. It struck a gray Chevrolet Colorado that was attempting to make a left turn to drive east on State Street.

The Colorado then hit a gray Dodge Durango that was facing north, Hurricane Police Department Sgt. Dan Raddatz told St. George News. The Colorado and the Ram appeared to have sustained the most damage.

The Hurricane Valley Fire District medically evaluated four individuals involved in the crash, with one transported to the St. George Regional Hospital, the fire department posted to Facebook. Initially, responders thought one person would require extrication, but they ultimately exited the vehicle on their own.

The Ram’s driver received citations for driving recklessly and running a red light, Raddatz said.

Eastbound traffic was halted for approximately 20 minutes while officers waited for the Utah Department of Transportation’s Incident Management Team to clear the scene, Raddatz said.

Once the vehicles involved in the crash were moved out of the roadway, traffic slowly began to move again, with all lanes open about 35 minutes after the incident.

This report is based on statements from police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
