Shane Gordon Farnsworth

Aug. 16, 1970-Feb. 11, 2024

Shane Gordon Farnsworth was born in Cedar City, Utah, on Aug. 16, 1970, to Gordon Lavar and Janette Gordon Farnsworth. He spent his early years in Cedar City, then moved around for a short while before settling in Washington, Utah.

Shane’s friendly, outgoing personality attracted many friends during his high school years, most of whom remained his best friends for the rest of his life. He almost never missed online gaming night with the boys (or the girls, depending on who you ask). He loved board games, books and all things fantasy. His favorite animal (apart from his 4 cats) are dragons. He always put a special twist and a laugh into every interaction.

On June 19, 2009, he met the love of his life Aurienne Fator at a mutual friend’s wedding. It was love at first sight. They spent 15 years together loving, laughing and raising a son Kanyen McCarron. They lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the majority of their life together.

Kanyen and Aurienne were his whole world. If you knew Shane, you would know how big his heart was. He gave them all of it without a second thought. His nieces all treasured their Wunka Shane and will miss him terribly. He was second dad and fun Wunka, tickling, teasing and loving with his whole soul. When his oldest niece had her own daughter Ireland 18 years ago, it was Shane who stepped up to be her father figure. He was always there for Ilee, no matter what may come. That is Shane all over, as those who knew and loved him know very well. He was always there to catch you when you fell, to gab and giggle with, and to be steadfast at your side. We will miss his kindness and his laugh (especially when he was trying to tell a funny story and laughed too hard to tell it) forever.

Shane had been struggling with his health for several years. He was diagnosed with diabetes and has fought its destruction valiantly, rarely complaining and instead always with a joke or good cheer. Tragically, on Feb. 11, 2024, he left this world to join his many loved ones in the next. Shane was the youngest of four children born to Gordon and Janette. He was the kindest, most gentle, generous and loving man. He was the light of our family and the best of us all. The loss of Shane is utterly immeasurable, and he will be so greatly missed.

Shane is survived by his wife Aurienne, son Kanyen, sisters Melody Farnsworth, Tammie Chapman (David) and his brother Wade G. Farnsworth (Gina), seven nieces, and 13 of their own children, and too many aunts, uncles, cousins and more friends that there is room to name here.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and one of his best buddies, Jess Garrett.

Casual services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff St., St George, Utah. Casual dress is encouraged, as Shane would want us all comfortable and wouldn’t want a big fuss.

Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff St., St. George, 435-673-2454. Family and friends are invited to click here to sign Shane’s online guest book.
