Kristin Kaye Keddington Clark

Dec. 7, 1954-Feb. 6, 2024

Kristin Kaye Keddington Clark passed away on Feb. 6, 2024, at the age of 69 from ovarian cancer.

Kristin was born on Dec.  7, 1954, in American Fork, Utah to Birdene and Gordon Keddington. She grew up in Walnut Creek, California, where she met her husband Hal Scott Clark. Scott and Kristin were married while she was studying violin performance and art at Brigham Young University following his return from Vietnam.

Kristin and Scott lived in Livermore, California, for four years before settling in Hemet, California, where they raised their four children. They retired to Washington, Utah, in 2007. Her Hemet home of 30 years reflected her creativity, love of beauty and indulgent spirit. It overflowed with sumptuous fruits, flowers, vegetables, and exotic gourds. There she created a haven of wonder, learning and freedom for her children, helping them tend to their ever-changing menagerie of farm animals and pets.

Kristin used her considerable talents to bless the lives of those she loved, taught and served. An accomplished violinist, she taught violin, as well as viola, cello and piano to hundreds of children over her three decades of teaching. Her students learned more than music from her; they learned the value of persistence and left her home feeling loved and believing in their own capacity to do hard things. She strengthened and supported the many women and children she served as a Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society President over her lifetime of service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Always the consummate artist, Kristin created beauty in every endeavor. Never content to simply dabble in a new activity, Kristin always became an expert in each successive artistic pursuit. She created exquisite hand-carved eggs then became a master spinner and weaver and owner of A Shepherd’s Coat, a textile and fiber arts store. Ever eager to learn new arts, she later became an expert maker of sought-after bath and body soaps and lotions.

When she wasn’t making beautiful music and art, she loved hiking, jeeping and boating through Southern Utah with her husband and sisters. The majesty of Lake Powell especially filled her with awe and solace.

She is survived by her mother Birdene Keddington, her sisters Dena Watkins, Patrice Christensen and Andra Garrett, and her husband of 50 years Hal Scott Clark, her four children, Lisa Clark-Burnell, Devin Clark, Paul Clark and Tessa Clark, and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Gordon Keddington and her sister Lisa Ann Keddington.
