Wanda Lewis

July 2, 1957 — Oct. 24, 2023

Wanda Ann Lewis passed away Oct. 24, 2023, in St. George. She was born July 2, 1957, in Mesa, Arizona to Jerry Bernell Lewis and Catherine “Katie” Whiting Lewis.

From Mesa, Arizona, she moved with her family to Whitewater, Colorado where she attended Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary School in Grand Junction. Then her family moved to Kanab, Utah. The family later moved to St. George, Utah where Wanda graduated from Dixie High School in 1975.

Her nickname growing up was “Twinkie”. She loved everyone and wanted to be everybody’s friend. She had a great sense of humor and no joke ever got past her. She loved her family and was loved by her family.

She married Kevin Norton in 1976 in St. George. They had two children, a daughter, Sunny, and a son, Sterling. They later divorced.

In 2012, she was in a car accident that left her paralyzed. While living at Red Cliffs Health and Rehab, she endured many surgeries, sicknesses and pain, but her roommate and dear friend Catherine Desantis always made her feel better. They became best friends.

Despite those limitations, she enjoyed giving wheelchair rides to her granddaughter Isabella and loved this time of year when they would go trick or treating. When Isabella got tired, she climbed on Grandma Wanda’s chair and off they would ride.

She loved visits from family and friends, but treasured visits from her other grandchildren, Grace, Sean, Kelsey, Carmen and Caleb.

She is survived by her children, Sunny (Sean) O’Halloran, Lipan, Texas; and Sterling (Kristy) Norton, St. George, Utah; grandchildren, Grace, Sean, Kelsey, Carmen, Caleb and Isabella; by her siblings, Kay Jean Mathews-Hales, Lynn Lewis, Sharee Webb and Jeff Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jerry Bernell Lewis and Catherine “Katie” Lewis, and by her granddaughter Kaitlyn Jane Norton.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 1316 S. 400 East, Suites A3/A5, St. George, Utah.

Family and friends are invited to share tributes online. Arrangements and memorial tree planting by Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 435-986-9100.
