According to a news release from Idaho State Police, the crash happened at approximately 6:39 a.m. Friday on Interstate 84 at mile marker 110.8, near Mountain Home.

The release states that a 2020 Freightliner semitractor-trailer driven by 40-year old man from Hartford, Connecticut, was traveling westbound when it crossed the median and went into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with a 2015 Peterbilt semi head-on in the right lane.

Both drivers died at the scene, the release indicated. The incident prompted the closure of eastbound lanes of I-84 for approximately 12 hours.

Although neither man was named by state police in the news release, the driver of the Peterbilt truck was later identified by family members and friends as Zadok Standley, 35, of Hurricane.

A GoFundMe page established on behalf of Standley’s widow Dalayni and their two young children describes Zadok Standley as “a loving husband and devoted father” as well as “a truly kind, caring, loving, and hard working individual.”

“Zadok was the sole provider for his household,” adds the post on the crowdfunding page, which had raised $4,285 as of 3 p.m. Wednesday. “His death was untimely, and his family was unprepared to navigate the world without him … . It is heartbreaking to watch such a young widow and his sweet children suffer the loss of their protector and sole provider.”

A celebration of life for Zadok Standley is planned for Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at 150 Snow Peak Boulevard, Inkom, Idaho.
