Paper Jams: Stripping things down with Southern Utah’s native songbird Sarah Jane

FEATURE — Southern Utah’s live music scene is flourishing and the Canyon Media crew is back to highlighting local musicians. So gather around for another session of “Paper Jams.”

Coming to you from Cloud 9 Studios at Canyon Media, this month’s edition features Southern Utah-based singer-songwriter Sarah Jane.

Watch (and hear) Sarah Jane perform live from Cloud 9 Studios at Canyon Media in the media player above.

Sarah Jane has been performing throughout the greater St. George area for the past eight years both as a solo artist and with a backing band. In anticipation of her appearance at the Landslide Festival in Cedar City on Saturday, Sept. 2, she brought only a keyboard and her magical voice to perform captivating covers of Brooks & Dunn’s “Neon Moon” and “Lyin'” by Bishop Briggs.

Sarah Jane grew up in rural Wayne County, where her early musical influences included church hymns, musicals, Disney soundtracks and country radio. Both of her parents are musically inclined, and her love of music and singing was obvious even at a very young age.

After her family moved to St. George, she took the stage for the first time in a school talent show. She reached the finals of Dixie’s Got Talent as a teenager, and her musical theater credits include St. George Musical Theater’s production of “The Sound of Music” and “The Music Man” as well as “Annie Get Your Gun” at Brigham’s Playhouse.

Also an aspiring vocal coach, she is heavily involved with the VocalizeU Artist Intensive in Los Angeles. Her debut EP, “Away,” is available to listen and download via Spotify, Apple Music and most major streaming platforms. Keep up with her live performances on Instagram.
